Are You Considering Counselling?

People mostly do not make a decision to seek counselling lightly. Whilst making initial contact with a counsellor may seem daunting, one factor that prompts people to commence counselling is their usual methods of tackling a problem haven't met with success.

Counselling gives you the chance to talk with a qualified person who will really listen to you and can help with new ideas and new ways of resolving a problem. It can be a relief to talk to someone who will be nonjudgemental, independent of your situation, who will not demand that you to act on their advice, and who won't be hurt by anything you say.

In other situations, people become faced with problems they have little or no experience with, and in some cases a situation has to become so intolerable, that the person finds no other option but to seek guidance about how to proceed.

Some people may come to counselling to talk about issues that they don't feel comfortable speaking about to family members and friends. They may also feel that they don't want to burden their friends or family with their worries or feel that they may be sick of hearing about the problem. Then again, they may be part of the problem........

You may have another reason for wanting to try counselling! Whatever your reason, counselling may help you explore strategies for coping with difficulties, as well as allow you to gain some insight into your own behaviour.
